Cerebral Cortex/ Hemispheres
The Cerebral Cortex is a structure in the brain that plays a significant role in memory, attention, perceptual awareness, thought, language, and consciousness. It is referred to as the gray matter. The Cerebral Cortex is gray because nerves in this area lack the insulation that makes other parts of the brain appear to be white. It covers the outer portion of the Cerebrum and Cerebellum
The Cerebral Cortex is divided int o two hemispheres. The right an left Hemispheres. These Hemispheres are linked together by the corpus callosum.
The Left Hemisphere controls ride-side motor coordination.
The Right Hemisphere controls movement of the left side of the body.
